I investigate and interrogate dominate cultural values and mores by representing people on the margins. In my narrative films and feature film scripts this often means telling stories about people crossing boundaries. The journey across cultures, geographies, space-time dimensions, social classes, or social norms always requires characters, and in turn audience members, to arrive at a new perspective on the world and on themselves. In my experimental work these contrasts are more oblique, but my general tendency persists, to reveal commonplace assumptions by highlighting unexpected and unexamined relationships.
